Rotolight RL48-A ‘Stealth Edition’ Camcorder LED light simply slips over your shotgun mic and delivers calibrated 6900K, ‘Daylight’ 5600K, 4100K and ‘Tungsten’ 3200K light fast, when you need it, so you’ll never miss that perfect shot.

Rotolight can be accurately dimmed (using Neutral Density filters) over a range of 1.5 aperture stops. The 48 Ultrabright LED’s provide warm, natural light for HD Cinematography, with that great ‘ring-light’ effect but without ‘Red-Eye’ or shadows. RL48 ‘Stealth Edition’ has a matt black rubberized outer coating which minimises reflectivity and acoustic resonance, and is weather resistant. The package also includes a Filter-Holder and custom Lighting Gel Kit (made by Lee Filters).

"The Rotolight is a fantastic tool for using with the HD video on most [DSLRs] now. It provides a perfect backup when a fill light is needed to iron out any shadows on the face. It works best at close range, so for tight head shots and as an interview light it is perfect. Having two lights with the filters to be able to match the lighting to the ambient light is a great simple feature in a very portable and cool looking package. As far as stills go, If used in it's own right, it's power output is low but can be useful at high ISO's and/or with a very fast lens. Using the light in low light conditions such as a party and dark social occasions or at night outside, certainly helps the autofocus 'see' what you need to see, adding a useful key light on the subject and still provide a great ambient atmosphere. Used in conjunction with flash, means the flash output can be reduced a little so sharp pictures can be obtained while still giving more ambience than just flash with ambient lighting alone. Having it attached to the camera along with the flash gives the user the flexibility to switch between stills and movies easily. This will always be in my kit."

On the set of Elizabeth the Golden Age

Acclaimed photographer Gregory Davies recently used a 3 Rotolight to shoot model and up and coming actress Katherine Templar who recently starred alongside Cate Blanchett, Rhys Ifans, Clive Owen in the hit movie " Elizabeth the Golden Age" (2007)

He got some fantastic results using two Rotolights which were daylight balanced with diffusion (one on Camera and a second mounted onto a tripod), and then a third Rotolight with Red Colour Filter for sidefill effect.

"The Rotolight is an amazing product and allows me to travel light and still have the equipment I need to get the right result. I do allot of portraits/headshots and usually use a three light flash set up - which is great, but outside of the studio very cumbersome and difficult to transport.

The three Rotolight set up allows me to achieve the same result as the flash set up, but without the hassle of carrying heavy flash lights with me. The selection of filters offer a suburb creative option and allow me to achieve the perfect light to fit the look of the shot!
