Cirrus Shadowbox Frames
The Cirrus frame is a shallow (1/2” deep) shadowbox frame. The aluminum molding is 1 3/16” deep with a 1/4” wide face and is available in two anodized, satin finish colors: black and silver. It comes completely ready to use, with a warm white, 3/16” archival foam-core backing, clear glass that has had the sharp edges ground smooth, and removable, acid-free, 1/4” thick mounting tabs. Smaller sizes include an easel for tabletop use.
The Cirrus frame, like the Fineline frame, is uniquely easy to use thanks to Framatic’s patented Framlok corner joining system.
Cirrus can be used to frame a three-dimensional object but it is especially useful for “floating” an image. This is a presentation where the image is placed against the backing with an allowance for space around the image not covered by either frame or mat. Since the glass does not touch the image, a mat is not required for conservation, and the edges of the image are left exposed. This adds a dimension to framing where the media — for example, a deckle edged piece of paper – becomes an object within the frame as well as the surface that holds the image.
To add to the “floating” effect, the Cirrus frames include acid-free, 1/4” thick foam adhesive backed tabs. The tabs mount an image to the backing securely yet are removable. Thus creating a “shadow line”—a separation between the image and the backing – that adds further dimension to your framing.
Cirrus frame sizes are created with the “floating” of the “suggested image”. The frame sizes shown leave, in most cases, have an even 1” border around the “suggested image” sizes.
Cirrus Frames are available in sixteen different sizes, from 5” x 7” to 20” x 24”.
Fineline and Cirrus feature easy-to-use Framelock system.
The patented “Framlok” corner joining system enables one end of the frame to be easily removed for loading, yet securely attached when in use. The exceptionally thin edge (1/8”) aluminum molding is available in black or white powder coating and silver anodizing. The snap-in easel is provided through sizes 8 x 12.
